Advisory Board (year-round): Community leaders are needed to share expertise to Army personnel with their background in areas of business, vision and service. Advise Officers and Board on current issues of service while being an ambassador for The Salvation Army. Get involved in Porter County groups and events.
Food Drives (year-round): Help us provide canned food, baby products and non-perishable items for Porter County residents in need throughout the year. You can drive for us or your group or organization can collect, buy, sort, and restock our pantry shelves. Volunteers also divide and package goods donated by Panera and Pizza Hut on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Drivers are needed Mondays through Fridays.
Women's Ministry (year-round): Meet weekly on Tuesdays to encourage, educate and serve. The group organizes fundraisers, works on local Corps programs and international missions projects.
Men's Ministry (year-round): Meet twice a month on Saturdays to work on local Corps programs, international missions projects, fundraisers and other service projects.
Stuff the Bus (Summer/Fall): Helpers collect items at collection sites and sort supplies. Others work at our Block Party when supplies are distributed. We collect and distribute on the first Fridays in July and August in preparation for the new school year for Porter County students.
Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner (4th Thursday in November): Volunteer to setup, prepare, serve, pickup, deliver, solicit and clean up for our annual free meal at the Corps.
Christmas Angel Tree & Adopt-a-Family (November-December): Help make Christmas brighter for children and families in Porter County by donating toys for Angel Tree applicants. Help sort, distribute, set up and clean up.
Santa/Bunny Breakfast (Christmas/Easter): Volunteer to help coordinate, set up, cook, serve, etc, a family buffet-style breakfast with crafts, activities, music, photo opportunities, and more.
Community Care Ministry (Christmas/Easter): Visit nursing home residents and shut-ins, giving seniors holiday gifts and a copy of The War Cry magazine.
Red Kettle Campaign (November-December): We need bell ringers, organizers and drivers to help us collect monetary donations during the Christmas season for all of our assistance programs. Outdoor and indoor countertop kettle sponsors are also needed.
